We’re visiting family for Christmas so Diana Shand and Lesley Shand, two good friends of ours, will be hosting from 25th December until the 28th December. They’ll be sure to look after you well and will provide you with plenty of local knowledge. Diana Shand is a former Canterbury Regional Council politician, a former New Zealand Human Rights Commissioner and is currently a Vice President of the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature). Lesley Shand is a prominent Canterbury conservationist and member of the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand. They both grew up on the high country station (sheep farm) of Island Hills. Don’t forget about the Arthur’s Pass summer programme, some of us have had a teeny weeny sneak preview of the Art exhibition and it’s fabulous.
