Local Arthur’s Pass climber Graeme Kates has set up an online petition to safeguard the paper-based intentions system being used in Arthur’s Pass National Park that is used to help find people who go missing in the park. The Department of Conservation has decided to remove the system from March 2012 replacing it with a national online system. While an online national system will mean a consistent approach it does mean it is safer for international visitors.
